FULL-TIME RECEPTIONIST POSITION AVAILABLE – HEMPSTEAD OFFICE

Overview: For more than 50 years, Nassau Suffolk Law Services (NSLS) has been providing free, high-quality legal counsel in civil matters when basic human needs are at stake, including eviction and foreclosure prevention, income maintenance, disability, elder law, healthcare, education, consumer fraud and more. As the only provider of comprehensive civil legal services on Long Island, our services support thousands of poor and low-income families and individuals who cannot afford an attorney. JOB DESCRIPTION: NSLS has an immediate opening in our Hempstead office for a full-time Receptionist/Clerk/Typist in the Senior Citizen Law Project.

‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎‏‏‎ ‎

DUTIES: The Receptionist/Clerk/Typist will screen all calls, conduct initial intake and enter cases in internal and county-wide case management system; conduct initial screening, intake and data entry for walk-ins visiting the unit, make appropriate intra-office referrals and referrals to outside agencies; create and update community educational and training materials; prepare monthly and quarterly reports; typing, photocopying, date entry, statistical reporting, filing and related clerical tasks, as requested, and when necessary, delivery of papers to court.

SALARY: $33,895 D.O.E. with excellent benefits.

REQUIREMENTS: High school graduate; ability to type; knowledge of modern office procedures and equipment; proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook; ability to work with the staff attorneys and paralegal assigned to the unit; bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English preferred but not mandatory.
