Receptionist/Clerk/Typist Position Available
Overview: For more than 50 years, Nassau Suffolk Law Services (NSLS) has been providing free, high-quality legal counsel in civil matters when basic human needs are at stake including, eviction and foreclosure prevention, income maintenance, disability, elder law, healthcare, education, consumer fraud and more. As the only provider of comprehensive civil legal services on Long Island, our services support thousands of poor and low-income families and individuals who cannot afford an attorney. With the gap separating those who can and cannot afford legal representation widening each day, we work to ensure that everyone has equal access to justice, regardless of their ability to pay. JOB DESCRIPTION: Receptionist/Clerk/Typist position is available in our Hempstead Office
The Receptionist/Clerk/Typist will be working for various units in the office. The Receptionist/Clerk/Typist will perform a variety of clerical duties under the general supervision of the Office Administrator. The Receptionist/Clerk Typist may also be assigned to one of our branch offices as needed. When necessary, the Receptionist/Clerk Typist may be asked to deliver papers to court for one of our attorneys or to another office. The receptionist will also work with the Office Administrator and Director of Office Administration and IT and the Office Administrator to assist with reporting requirements and location of documents in the office. Assist with interpretations and translations when needed. Fluent in English is a must, Spanish speaking is a plus and will be strongly considered.
DUTIES INCLUDE:
Telephone answering including screening and initial intake and entry of cases in case management system. Typing, photocopying, data entry, statistical reporting, filing and related clerical tasks as requested. Ability to work with other co-workers.
START DATE: Immediate
STARTING SALARY: $36,395-$46,395, D.O.E, excellent benefits.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate. Ability to type. Knowledge of Microsoft Office and all programs. Computer skills. Knowledge of modern office procedures and machines.
