Give and Make a Real Difference for Long Islanders in Need

This Giving Tuesday we reach out to all of our supporters in hopes that you will continue to support Law Services, the largest provider of free civil legal assistance to Long Islanders in need. The past few years have shown us when we help, respect and support each other, together we can accomplish anything, and our Long Island communities will once again thrive. For many having Long Islanders a stable income, permanent housing, a home to call their own, having access to healthcare etc., and most importantly access to equal justice under law, they will then have the support they need to begin to rebuild their lives.

This year we are asking you to consider signing up for monthly recurring donations in the amount of $30 or more and make a significant impact to Long Islanders most vulnerable residents and families. Your continued support can really make a difference to your neighbors in need and will assist NSLS so we can continue “Doing What’s Legally Possible to Create a Just World.” We are Long Islanders helping Long Islanders.

Though Giving Tuesday is November 29, 2022, we’ll be starting this campaign on November 1st and will run it through the end of the year. We will hold our standard Giving Tuesday Campaign along with our new Lawyer Led Campaign*. We are asking all law firms to have their associates recruit monthly recurring donors from their colleagues in the amount of $30 or more. A friendly competition within your law firm and among other law firms. All law firms who participate will be acknowledged and listed on our website. The law firm who has the most colleagues sign up for monthly recurring donations will be acknowledged as our Gold Medal Support, the second highest as our Silver Medal Supporter, and the third highest as our Bronze Medal Supporter. Framed appreciation certificates will be given to each of the associates who participate as well as the firm they are employed with. All monthly recurring donors will receive a beautiful canvas tote. For more information on how your law firm can participate in the lawyer led campaign, please contact Cathy Lucidi, Director of Community Relations at 631 232-2400 Ext. 3324.

Online Donations FAQ’s

What does donating online offer me?

It provides an easy, convenient way to donate to our mission, and reduces our fundraising costs. Plus, by donating with your credit card, you can use your credit card statement for taxes/receipts, earn credit card rewards, save time and reduce postage costs.

How does online donation work?

Simply fill out all the fields on our secure donation form, click “Submit” and your donation will be processed immediately. A summary of the donation will appear on the screen for you to print, plus you will be emailed an acknowledgement.

Is my personal information safe?

Yes, the service operates on a secure server and complies with Visa/MasterCard regulations for real-time credit card processing. Unless you’re participating in our Recurring Gifts program, your credit card information will not be kept on file. Your other personal information is entered into a security-protected donor management system that only authorized users may access.

When will my credit card be charged?

We use a real-time authorization service, so a charge will be seen on your account within 24 hours.

If you selected recurring payment, your next payment will be processed as listed below:
Weekly – Billed the same day of the week, every week. If billing began on a Tuesday, each subsequent deducation will be charged every Tuesday.

Monthly – Billed the same date each month (ex: 10/25, 11/25, 12/25).

Quarterly – The next billing date is automatically scheduled for 90 days after the preceding bill date.

Annually- Billed the same date each year (ex: 10/25/2019, 10/25/2020).

What credit cards do you accept?

Can I make a recurring online donation?

Yes, on our donations web page, you can schedule a monthly, weekly or yearly gift to NSLS. In fact, we encourage it!

How does automated giving work?

Simply decide on an amount you would like to give weekly, monthly or quarterly or yearly, and then pre-authorize an automatic gift from your bank account or credit card. Your donation will be transferred automatically and will appear on your bank or credit card statement. It’s easy and best of all ensures your donation is put to good work as efficiently as possible.

Can I change or cancel my automated donations at any time?

Yes. We appreciate your generosity and are grateful for any support you provide. If for any reason you wish to stop or change the amount of your gift, simply contact us and we will honor your request immediately. Please direct questions to Cathy Lucidi by calling our office at 631-232-2400.

What if my credit card is at the limit when the payment is charged?

This service depends on you having enough available credit for the charge to be accepted. If your credit card does not have enough available credit, the donation could be denied by your credit card company and your donation may not be made.

Will I receive a receipt?

Yes. We will mail you an acknowledgement / thank-you for your records. You can also print the authorization information on the final screen after your donation. The donation will appear on your credit card statement.
